How can we see space? Materials occupy space while different shapes and colours engage with that space differently. A painting is restricted by its border, and the composition is about the relationships between shapes, spaces, and colours--gesture is rooted in form and line. A distorted shape becomes a new shape with the identity of the original shape.
- A painting can invade real space and so it becomes something relatable and graspable.
- A digital image is part of a documented world--how much of that document can we see? The elements of painting are incorporated into the construction of this document.
